I'm considering a windmill or small wind Turbine for my home?

There have been huge advancements in small wind turbines in recent years, but there are many things to consider before you make the investment.  Here's a few tips and resources we've come across:

  1. As a member of the AWEA (American Wind Energy Association), we recommend starting with their overview on small wind; it's a great place to learn the basics and more.

  2. Once you covered the basics; location, location, location; just like buying a home - location is everything.  Your home's location will determine if small wind is right for you.  We recommend checking out the Department of Energy's site on small wind which provides a state by state guide to wind density, wind incentives and much much more.

  3. Finally, once you've determined if wind is right for you; we recommend checking out the Warwick Wind Trial Project; it's a great resource to set expectations on power output, installation considerations and wind speeds.
